Count Your Blessings

Count-your-blessings As I’ve spent the past two weeks of illness confined to my bed, it’s given me lots of time to think about the powerful healing ability of our bodies and to count my blessings. It truly is miraculous how our bodies will heal themselves. I was diagnosed with pleurisy and told by the doctor that there is basically nothing that can be done. I was told to take cough syrup if the cough gets to be unbearable and otherwise just to take painkillers for the pain. The doctor told me that with plenty of bed rest, my body will heal all on its own, without medical intervention.

With nothing to do than to rest in bed and wait for the healing to take place; I supported my body with herbal remedies, hot spice steam baths, saunas, and an all liquid diet. By providing my body with the rest that it needs and the best nutritional support, my healing is progressing well.

Despite this, last weekend was a challenge for me. I had planned to spend the Family Day long weekend doing some great outdoor activities with my daughters. Needless to say, these plans were thrown to the wind and we had to satisfy ourselves with indoor activity. We ended up watching some old comedy movies together and the laughter combined with my daughters’ presence, did me a world of good. This just goes to show that laughter truly is the best medicine!

I wanted to share this infographic about the healing power of humour with you. Don’t forget to count your blessings!

With love and gratitude,

Dagmar

  1. Hello Dagmar,

Sending you healing and hugs. Hope you are feeling much better after all that laughter. Not sure how your ribs and lungs fared from laughing because I know Pluerisy can really hurt from just breathing. It sound like you did okay. Yes! Laughter has cured so many people in my circle of friends and family. It is the cheapest and nicest way to heal. Take care. Your body is thanking you for honoring this time of renewing. Blessings and renewed good health to you. Sharon

“Sharon, thank you SO much for your words of kindness, healing, and hugs. I feel blessed to have come into this world with a happy, positive outlook and a good sense of humour. No matter how serious a situation is, I always trust that things will get better. I’m over the worst of it now and can feel myself regaining my strength. Let’s meet for a tea once I’m up and about. again.”

      With love and gratitude,

      Dagmar
